Attracted by its turquoise crystal waters and its deliciously slow pace, we found ourselves returning once more to the under-the-radar Spanish island of Fomentera.
Time disappears in this Mediterranean paradise. Ibiza´s untouched little sister is wanderlust gold. Just 12 miles long, the island is small enough to be enjoyed by bicycle. After spending some wonderful days hopping from one beach to the next, we are going back home wild-haired, with aching muscles and nut-brown skin.
We like to experience the different sides of Fomentera so that we can enjoy it to the full. For the first couple of days, we always head to Platja Migjorn for a wilder take on the island. There are delightful villas in this vast stretch of sugary sand where we love to stay in. Then, we go back to the little harbor at La Savina and rent a cute apartment in order to be near Platja Ses Illetes, one of the dreamiest beaches on Earth.
With its long narrow strip of creamy white sand stretching far into the distance and cerulean blue waters, the Caribbean-like beach has often been named one of the world´s best.
On a dead-calm day, you can pleasantly walk to the very end of the postcard-worthy beach and wade through the glassy water to the islet of Espalmador from where you can see Ibiza in the distance.
Sunsets and sunrises are quite dramatic at Ses Illetes. Amazing pastel colors explode like fireworks stretching for miles across the sky.
